Technology Can Drive Employees to Distraction

A Ricoh survey suggests that while access to technology can bring benefits to businesses and their employees, it also leaves them open to distraction.

While technology today is seen as providing tremendous opportunities for increasing worker productivity, it can also cause the inverse effect by offering up a bevy of distractions that pull employees off track.

According to a Ricoh Americas Corporation online survey of more than 1,000 employed adults in the U.S. conducted by Harris Poll on behalf of Ricoh this August, three out of four workers (76 percent) check personal email and three out of five (61 percent) take personal calls.

In addition, two out of three (67 percent) text using a mobile phone at least once a week while on the job.
